MASTER JEWELER PITANGO

Master jeweler Pitango has been making jewelry for 28 years to empower the wearer to believe in their own power. His mission is to make jewelry for kings and queens - both literally and spiritually - for we are all Queens and Kings of our kingdoms and queendoms. Born in the Middle East, he traveled in the far East where he discovered Buddhism, Hinduism, and the beautiful art of that culture. Seeing the power of art on culture and civilization, from that moment onward, Pitango chose art as his weapon of choice.

Malas

A mala is simply a string of sacred beads, typically made with 108 beads. The mala is designed to pray or set intentions with - one prayer per bead. While many people repeat a traditional prayer like a “Hail Mary” or “Hare Krishna,” you can use any mantra or affirmation that feels good to you depending on the day. The beads are there to help you keep count without effort. When you’ve made one “round” of prayers, you can pause, recalibrate, or stop for the day. In some traditions, it is customary to repeat this practice as many as 16 times per day - sometimes spending 2 hours per day in this kind of meditation!

USING YOUR MALA

Begin at the pendant or “guru” bead. Hold the first bead in your hand. Be present with the texture, temperature, and quality of the bead. Speak or think your prayer. Move to the next bead and repeat. Continue until you reach the pendant on the other end. If you wish to continue, turn around and continue. This practice will both imbue your mala with your prayers (#wearyourprayers) and simultaneously imbue your prayers with the power and transmission of the crystal beads you’re praying on.
